The Saddest Goodbye
Is luck a bottled joy?
Destined to trickle away with every thirsty gulp of fortune it brings?
When a broken hourglass determines fate
And all that is left is a moment
Hold fast as the sand slips through fumbling fingers
Luck is nothing more. Nothing less.
And slowly running out
Lucky days suspend every last hope
Keep holding on
Keep using up the seeping sand
Don’t wait
Life will flash before your eyes
Love will drain you in a sudden sigh
Eyes strain to see faded stars
Pinpricks of light, absorbed by dark midnight blue
As if to threaten infinity with the silence
I cannot delve into the depths without you
Spinning free with no chains of assurance
Hope terrifies me and I am gone
Solitude claims me before my time
You are my light. You are my love.
You are the saddest goodbye.
