You know that first layer?
doesn’t hurt
doesn’t sting
passes right through
the next layer?
it stings a bit
I won’t lie
it starts to penetrate
after that?
well, then, you’re…
at the point of pain,
but that’s also the point…
of release
it’s when your body takes the pain you’ve been holding
inside.
your body,
your hand,
It’s my left hand.
no one sees it,
even though it’s in plain site
the first time
I covered it up-
-with a bandaid.
but now,
it’s right there
and no one sees it…
that small H inscribed on my palm.
it doesn’t satisfy me to see the blood…
but it releases me…
… because no one else will…
