Mother?
You abandoned me at age five,
left me wondering where you went.
I wondered if you were even alive.
The time was slowly spent.
Why won’t you explain it, mother?
Please just tell me why.
You left me alone to raise my brother.
You left us alone to cry.
Did you even remember us
or were you too busy with men?
Did you ever realize you left us
with no one to hold our hand?
But even more, you left us with no one to be proud.
Sometimes I try to forget.
And although the anger screams so loud,
My heart tells me you aren’t worth the fret.
In case you forgot,
I am your daughter.
You ruined my childhood,
but you are still my mother.
