The Messenger

Don't shoot the messenger, the middle man,
the mediator, charged with their duty to relay
back and forth,
forth and back
hurtful, confusing, angry message alike
hopeful, compassionate, awe-inspiring message alike.
with no shield or armor,
I take this dangerous task.
in charge of word,
of matters of life or death,
happiness or depression,
hope or hopelessness.
I take this task.
