This is My Last Sermon
This is My Last Sermon
Over the drone of a heavy debate
We all seem to forget what it’s for
Though we say we don’t like it
In the future there will surely be more
We draw peace signs on our
Binders and plain colored folders
Harmony cannot be found for we’re
Not aware we’re its destroyers and beholders
Don’t tell me it’s not your fault
Though it may not be, that is true
Just start tomorrow out fresh
Like a brand new morning’s dew
You can always find it easy
To complain, but can you relate?
We’d be lonely without each other
So let’s start to appreciate
We’re united in hypocrisy
Instead of sisterhood
I long to be a uniting cement
If only, somehow, I could
Though I feel stressed and this
Emotion plummets me to a deep pit
While I cover up these worries with joy
Others grow tired of trying and quit
How can we live in happiness when
We’ve got weights on our shoulders to haul
It’s no wonder when we try to stand
We merely trip and fall
This is my last sermon so I
Suggest to the words you take heed
Let us stand in tranquility and, in
Doing so, be freed
