11:11
I hate nights like these,
When you're too caught up thinking
About not thinking,
And words won't stop blinking,
Like airplane lights,
Forming constellations on the curtains of your eyes.
In the darkness where fears are real,
And reality is hours away,
And you can't seem to fall asleep.
I hate nights like these,
When there's nothing left to save you
From feeling safely out of reach
Of the dramas of the daytime
And the terrors of truth
That won't seem to leave you alone
But you can't seem to stay awake .
I hate nights like these,
When the silence screeches
And calls out the names of those you want to forget.
When it draws out those tears
That you said you'd never cry.
When it takes away your promises
And makes you a liar.
When hypocrisy is endless,
And your reflection is a blur,
And you can't seem to fall asleep.
I hate nights like these
When fighting for peace makes sense,
And there's nothing left to live for but the moment.
When the past doesn't worry you,
And the future is over a forever from now,
But you can't seem to stay awake.
I hate nights like these,
When dreams are on the horizon,
And tomorrow might be the best day of your life
Or the worst,
And there's no way of knowing til the light of dawn shines through
And wakes you from your slumber
On the wrong side of the bed,
And you don't remember moving,
Only snippets of the dreams
That left stains on your pillows and in your heart.
And you can't seem to fall asleep.
I hate nights like these,
When the right words slip off your fingers onto paper,
And a weight is lifted from your tongue,
And there's finally enough oxygen to breathe comfortably.
When your heartbeat is a promise that you'll live to see another sunrise,
But you can't seem to stay awake.
I hate nights like these,
When the difference stands out
Between you and the rest of the world,
And nightmare takes on a new meaning,
Leaving you feeling haunted
By the only ghosts you ever see-
The monsters of your past,
The memories that won't leave you alone,
And you can't seem to fall asleep.
I hate nights like these,
When you look at the clock,
And it's 11:11.
And even though you don't believe in it at all,
You make a wish that can never come true.
You wish to never have to wake up.
