Smiled Something Like An Angel.
"I'm sorry."
The apology, worn, over used
tore through her-
Damaging the feeling around her soul, cutting the connection.
everything inside shut down, shut off.
she collapsed against him
unaware that the devils smile
had slunk across his face, curling his mind into another deadly fantasy.
she let the tears fall
and carve an all too familiar path down her cheeks.
she realized she had caved & given in to the addiction.
slowly, laboriously, she let
him
go.
drew a knife to her throat,
smiled something like an angel,
and finished the job for him.
