Selfish
Hiding in a silent place
Sweat is dripping down your face
I can hear your heart race
Run, run, run.
Right outside, it sits still
Waiting for another kill
Want to know who’s its next thrill?
You, you, you.
Never trust yourself with your own being
Because one move could be the ending
Of your time with the living
Quiet, quiet, quiet.
I hear it move – you’re scared to death
Don’t even dare to take a breath
Know that this is the end
Cry, cry, cry.
Once again, all sounds cease
You think that maybe you’re finally free
Hold your breath and make the leap
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
At the funeral, I promise to cry
But only I can know that night
Where impulse was more vital than I
Inside, inside, inside
I laugh.
