Headphones

Headphones
They all wear headphones
Deaf to the world surrounding them
Only aware and alive to the music they hear
They are deaf before their time
Blind before they’ve seen
Mute before they’re silenced
Some take off their headphones
Horrified by the world they see
Diseased, disfigured, dying
They scream for help
Try to shake loose the man made hypnotism
To no avail
Their ears are plugged
Their eyes are closed
Their mouths are corked
Unknowingly bribed into silence
For a quarter the actual price
So no one hears, or sees, or speaks
They all wear headphones
