Reunion
it feels as if an eternity has passed since i last saw your face. you call me every now and then, but i must say, it’s not the same as your embrace.
my soul weeps for you; i long to be close to your heart again.
though times have been hard and memories have faded, i know nothing can sever the bond between us; not distance, not time, not life, not death could ever destroy the cord that connects us.
years it’s been since i heard your voice,
but yours is a voice i’d recognize has a thousand lifetimes elapsed.
i’ve dreamt of this day for ages; i never lose hope that we would be united again.
and now my prayers have been answered.
you call my name, a sweet song on your lips.
i turn, wishing that you felt for me the adoration i’m feeling now.
our eyes meet. even if i wanted to, i couldn’t look away.
after all this time, i am still mesmerized by you.
abruptly, i feel the truth that shines in your eyes, blazing like a fire in the night.
nothing has changed. not their color, their sincerity, their warmth.
but something else has drastically transformed.
in the depths of your soul, i finally see the truth, the only force powerful enough to bring us together again.
and when you fold your arms around me,
i realize that it’s been there all along.
