Flight of the Owls
Night creeps over the forest,
As the sunlight fades away.
And that is when they come,
the owls come out to play.
Stay hidden, all you mice,
Be safe, be wise, beware!
For when the owls arise,
There are none who they spare.
With piercing eyes
And talons ready,
They glide through the night,
Soaring fast and steady.
Until they see you—
they single out their prey.
Then they bullet,
Swooping down for the sleigh.
Alas, the owls rule the night,
It is the forest’s way.
Until they vanish suddenly,
And comes the light of day.
