One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.

Where has our generations piece of mind gone?
The prize of popularity
In a society where everyone is diverse…
In the identical way?
Standing out is the desire
To effect others in life
Not the appearance one person to
Surpass another’s in life
We are all mistaken
The thought of being remembered by differentially
From material items
Is just ignorance
We are no different because we declare we are
The one who doesn’t boast, but acts upon his conscience is
Wake up because man is mocking us
Media is mocking us
And we are fooling ourselves
Into believing these ideas about the word “diverse”
Simply claiming this about ourselves does not make it true
Yes we are all the same in the idea that we live, and we die
But what we do with life is what makes us remembered
And what is remembered after death is what makes us different
What cruel ideas have been engraved into the minds of our generation?
What ideas have we ourselves believed and sadly followed?
And these ideas forced into the minds of society have robbed us of our diversity, and taken away our piece of mind
But generations still have their ears open to it?
And their minds willing to obey?
Diversity starts with our acceptance,
And willingness to stand up for our own thoughts,
Our personality and our own piece of mind
In which forms individual diversity
And effects where our focus is in life
Changing the focus from material items to the fulfillment of ourselves and others
Will help us to be remembered
We can be the generation worth remembering
It’s our choice.

In highschool, as i look around, i find that the popular thing today is to call yourself different. People think that wearing different clothes and simply claiming this is diversity. I believe that what our generation is exposed to today with the media is what is feedig us this. My poem is my idea on what true diversity is and how we can achieve it and be remembered in life.
