In the devil's den i may be, so stab my heart and set me free.

They tore us apart.
Mom always told us
“Love your father as well.”
But her mind whispers
“Love me more.”
Dad always proclaimed
“She betrayed me.”
But his thoughts murmured
I seek revenge.
He and I tried neutrality,
but to no avail.
My older brother,
my hero,
despised me for so, so long.
The little ones may have to choose one day as well.
Or it will be chosen for them.

I can see why this made it into the magazine.  It's great! :)

I particulary enjoyed the part about the mother saying love your father but also saying love me more between the lines! I could picture the entire time how everything was getting ripped apart, it was beautiful :) good job!

aww, this contained a lot of emotion, with those quoted lines. the finality of the last line added a great impact of a finish

This is my favorite personal quote.

I like the idea you have going on here, but if you hadn't put that it was a divorce in the author's comments, I would've never guessed it. Maybe you should vaguely put in there that there was a separation or something.
