fog licks at the sun-kissed hillsides
trees display leaves of red, orange, and golden yellow
behind the gray of whispy clouds
familiar blue sky is waiting
geese flock to ponds and shallow lakes
they will soon be gone
fleeing the cold that looms behind Autumn's Door
condensation covers car windows
a mix between new frost and lingering warmth
i follow the winds and turns of the mountain road
lost in a dreamy state of mind
all these images pass the corners of my unfocused eyes and i plunge into quiet contemplation
i am on my way to another dreary day of school...
