Words
Your words scrawled agianst the page
Screaming black against blanching white
Tearing me apart inside
Ripping my heart in two
The ink slightly smeared
As if stained by a betraying tear
Your cold words dance in my dreams
Haunting me with icy glares
Shivers run up my spine
The corners of the blue lined paper folded
My hands tremble
Freezing with the harshness of your lies
I sit here for hours
Listening to the black ink scream at me
A tear sparkles on my cheek
Jumping to my eyes against my will
How could words destroy me so?
I clutch it to my chest
I feel a part of you here with me
A part of you that seems to have died
I feel a sliver of you here
In these words
Your name at the bottom
Sends goosebumps up my arms
The words spitting at me
Telling me things long known already
I stand here alone
In my field of snow and ice
Once brought to life by beautiful pastel flowers
Dead the day I died
The day I died inside
I speak the words on the lined paper
Clutched in my pale hands
So much softer than their intent
The snow melts away
As I feel a spark of warmth in my heart
The ice fades to puddles of water
Laying upon the emerald grass
As I speak those last three words
A single flower
Alone in its unspeakable beauty
Springs to life
There is hope
In the darkest of times
I whisper the words one last time
Dancing off my lips
Like forbidden flames
"I'm sorry I lied
I never felt so deeply about you
Yet still this is true:
I love you"
Your name, signed in bone-chilling black
Whispers to me
Songs of days gone by
A smile spreads across my lips
Because of the way I love you still
I love you
Three words towering over us
Bigger than me
Bigger than you
Love is a powerful ruler
Stronger than the world itself
Yet thats how I know I love you
When the pressure of the world
Suddenly rests on me
I write you a note
Words smiling up at me
It fits in my pocket
A perfectly clean companion
To its wrinkled brethren
I stand on your front porch again
And wait for you to see
"I love you still"
