Irish Eyes
Oh Irish eyes, oh Irish eyes you gleam your affection at me,
Oh Irish eyes, oh Irish eyes seem as happy as can be.
But underneath that exterior I fear something restless lies,
A kind and found rejected heart that has over longing need.
Beauty of a lass she is her smile raised from ear to ear,
From the town of Carrickfergus where the Mournes meet the sea.
No longer in that Irish town many thousand miles away,
Now an Aussie girl with a heartfelt remembrance of back home in County Antrim.
Still she continues to dazzle and shine in her seemingly effortless way, making it all look easy,
One day though maybe she’ll make her way back home and we’ll be more than happy to have her.
