For the first time since you left me,
I was able to look at you without pain,
For the first time since you left me,
I could truly be happy with you only as my friend,
For the first time since you left me,
I could honestly hope you're happy with him.

Each day gets a little easier,
And each day I laugh a little more.
Each day life begins to mean something again,
And each day I learn to love again.
Each day I care about you a litle less,
And each day I grow a little stronger

I still hear the words you spoke, and I still feel your warm touch,
But the memorie no longer hurts.
Every day before now I felt your gaze like scalding knives.
And every day before now I couldn't bare to look at you.
For the first time since you left me though,
I stand strong and feel no pain

The author's comments:
This was written after my best friend and I split up. I have read this to a few people, and one said that it was an emo, deppressing, 'I can't beleive she left me' poem. If you feel this way after reading this then I'm sorry to tell you that you missed the entire point of the poem. This poem is about getting stronger and learning to love and trust again.

well, the people who think that are having some issues with reading.

with poetry you let it flow then you think about it. there was no thinking with this, you get point while you're reading.

very nice. i REALLY like this.

I love the point of the poem, it's such a touching poem!

I like how in the poem, you're slowly healing, it makes it MUCH more realistic. :)

I saw you trying to help a guy when he posted a tread for guys only and yes i admit that I read it even though I am a girl. I never commented though, out of respect for the guy who started it. I would just like to say that I love this piece of work. Finally a boy who is not afraid to articulate his feelings. And may I also add that you articulate them very well. Keep writing or I might go insane.

This is really good! I especially like the scalding knives part (not just 'cause I'm kinda sadistic), but it's spot on to how I've felt before.

muy BIEN muy muy BIEN! ah bien! i would type more spanish but im drawing a blank. the only thing i can think of is EL BURRO EL MAS QUE TU. and that means that the donkey is smarter than you. i said it to my sister nad its become like a song stuck inmy head.
