The Little Girl With The Auburn Hair
Nobody knew, for what she wept,
A darkening secret, so carefully kept,
A family so happy it was difficult to see,
The helpless little girl who would never be set free,
Nobody gave her a thought or care,
The little girl with the auburn hair.
She would never get her childhood back,
Always waiting for the next attack,
She did not deserve to die this way,
When other kids were out to play,
She did not have the strength to fight,
Every day, night after night.
She needed someone by her side,
Before the night that she had died,
Someone to stand up tall and say,
You will not hurt this girl today,
But nobody knew and nobody came,
A broken grave without a name.
The seat on which she hit her head,
A tiny room without a bed,
Her blood spattered on wooden floors,
Stickers stuck upon her door,
A teddy bear which she had bought,
A helpless child the world forgot…
Nobody gave her a thought or care,
The little girl with the auburn hair.
