Somewhere in the blackberry brambles

Awaits my love

blades of evergreens she wheedles between her thumbs

She sounds like lavender, looks like the star’s laughter

Whispers slip through her berry-stained lips,

past her smile that tastes like spring

The trees talk and she

hears, wild is her moonlit spirit

spilling life out in every direction

And the hyacinth’s blossom upon her bare skin

as those bare feet fly across the damp and mossy earth

Like those with a fire in their blood, she might just fly away

For if you never dare fly above and into the dark

How will you see

that the world is made of song?
