Summer in a Bustling Metropolis

When golden rays of sunshine touch my face,
I turn the pages of my crisp, historical book on my balcony.
My phone rests quietly, with no reminders of deadlines nor exams.
My mind is at peace, like the still sea mirroring the endless sky, momentarily free.

My small home in the heart of a bustling town,
Lit by fluorescent lights,
Accompanied by continuous echoes of the motorcycles' roars, honks of cars stuck in traffic, and sirens of ambulances by the street,
Yet, as a city girl, it always feels like home in the dark night.

With every heartbeat, with every breath drawn,
It's a reminder that the more thousands of seconds you spend in a place, the more it becomes home.

This poem is fully based off my recent activity during my summer break! I spent my whole afternoon with my mind on my poetry and literature.
