I had only met you so little ago.

You curiously loomed near me, persuading

my heart’s beckoning, and you persisted with

your sleepy sullen eyes, that knew of their own carrying weight.

The soft purrs, that gifted me with reassurance in my own world,

while the diminishing beats of your own heart, gave goodbye to yours.

The soft gestures, that gifted me with the responsibility of burden,

while the final crackles of your embers, gave relief to yours.

The wind whispers your name one last time, as the airy

voices in my head murmur of longing.

I wish the wind was quieter, than the

silence that carries you to the stars.

The grass is lonely, you know.

This piece is dedicated to my cat that passed away one week after I had met him whilst visiting my grandparents overseas. In a world where all my experiences in communication were blocked off by language, he was the one friend I could really get along with easily. In such a short time we became great friends, but he left so suddenly due to being an outside cat.
