In a world where everything and everyone is ideal

There is complications

Lack of motivation is dialed back from absence of pressure

No expectations of the weight you carry on your shoulders

Knowing that it may not even be yours

and just someone who

was not strong enough to do it themselves

Left with the burden of guilt if you too are that incapable

Ones faced with the overwhelming chants of indignity

God you should be ashamed of yourself

Ironic because that is the thing in which shows the most strength

And the reason our brain is numb to this normality

We are crammed under a standard of perfection

That which you are less of a person if you can’t deal in society

The one that is a cut above the rest

Using the feebles back as a step stool

Becoming competition

Of who can hold the weight no one should

Always leaving one to break

With the heaviness cracking our knees

Shaking till you lose your balance

And looking up to see the other glorify in what you could not do

A constant reminder

that no one should hold such an implication over themselves

But that’s silly because maybe it really is just that you yourself

Are too weak

The author's comments:

This piece captures the incapabilities one may have when dealing under the concept of stress. The constant feeling someone will have when comparing themselves to others is difficult to always comprehend, especially when in moments when it feels like you are against the world. I began to understand the constant struggle of trying to carry a weight you can't, and that has made me come to the realization how me, and many others are strong enough to do so.
