You think you are the damsel, above
till you realize you're ascending rungs
that snake into eternity
a forever in the future-no in the distance
that you can never quite capture
you think the top is near
till you look up and the goal
is so far away, so hard to scale
you ask yourself why
you didn't take the stairs
there wasn't any passage that was clear
you remember: it was full
take the difficult way up, filled with
obstacles and seemingly endless work
but it'll be less crowded
they'll all be waiting in a traffic jam
while you've climbed halfway there
