An Ode To Oahu
Because you are not a part of the mainland.
Because you are not Oregon.
You are sunny and warm.
Everyone and everything on the island is happy.
Your tall palm trees that touch the sky like skyscrapers.
Your blue skies and clear waters
With tons of ocean life thriving within the reefs.
Leonard’s bright pink box with warm malasadas inside
Brings comfort and happiness to my heart.
All of the popular restaurants with fresh seafood, straight from the beautiful salty waters.
You are elegant and peaceful to a stressed out mind.
Your breathtaking sights leave me speechless.
Seeing you for the first time was a one in a million experience.
All the locals know where to go and where the best places are,
Even though everywhere is magical.
The birds on the island chirp with happiness like a kid on Christmas,
As they fly freely across your clear skies.
All your peaceful lagoons, warm sand, and beaches flooded with tourists.
Your bright sun tans my skin and leaves it feeling warm to the touch.
My heart swells with happiness as I swim in your tepid ocean waters.
Where I can hear your waves crashing on the land and other kids’ laughter.
Everything
Is perfect.

I've only been to Hawaii one time and it was amazing.
