trust yourself, believe yourself, and watch yourself grow

To my wonderful grandparents,

Who I wish I had more time with.

Thatha

I walked by you learning

Right hand mirroring the movement of my right leg

Left hand in a pocket

Walking with you

I was obsessed with the food you ate

“Thatha annam” I would call

And the perfect morsel you place

Eating with you

Bamma

Playing “Diamond Rush” on your tiny Nokia,

Using a towel or dupatta to drape a sari,

Watching you play sudoku

Trying to be with you

I see you in me.

We have different faces, different features

But the same height, same small hands, same small feet, same personality

Being a version of you

Ammumma

You were the only grandparent left,

In our daily talks

“Pustakala purugu” you would call

Talking to you

Your life's stories

Stories of the gods,

And lessons you taught me

Learning from you

Tatayya

You were taken away from me

Before I was born

I never met you

Learning about you

I wish I had the chance.

I wish I grew up with your presence.

I wish I met you

Wishing to know about you

I have no words

To experience how i feel

I miss you

Each and everyone of you

Thatha we walk the same

Bamma we have the same personality

Ammumma we know the same stories.

Tatayya we have the same blood.

But I wish I learned more from you Thatha

I wish I was with you more Bamma

I wish I could talk to you one more time Ammumma

I wish I could speak with you once, Tatayya.

I wish I had more time with you all.

Although I know that you will always be with me,

I still wish I could talk, hug, and care for you all.

Nothing can truly describe how much I miss you all.
