That Fantasy Land

Memories forever resting in the past
Oh do I wish I could get them back
The laughter-filled grounds, the monsters under our bed
Now I'm just circling in rounds and it's my own thoughts which have me shred.

It was when the world was nothing more than the rainbows in the sky
How quickly those times flew by...
Morphed the marching ants into cars
And wished upon shooting stars
Though my star refused to fall
It never carried my wish beyond life's stubborn wall

Time never waited for me
It never gave me a helping hand
My present is the past's debris
I find myself still stuck in that fantasy land

Sometimes it feels like time is racing ahead of you and you're still stuck at the starting line.
