Just a Dog
he may be just a dog
or an additional cost,
but to me he is everything-
the absence of him would have me lost
i don’t have to worry
about him packing a bag
and leaving me alone,
disappointed, feeling dragged
there's no need to question
if I am being missed,
with just a walk through the door
i am greeted and kissed
no judgements to be made
about an outfit or money,
or tormenting you with belittling remarks
because he thinks it is funny
he is my favorite form of life
and will never break my heart
there is just one exception
when his time is here to part

The reason I wrote this piece is plain and simple because I love my dog. And I know that sometimes dogs can be better friends than people.
