I close my eyes.

Listen to the sounds of geese high in the sky. 

Feel the long grass touching my bare legs. 

Smell the fresh country air around me. 

I bring the knife to my neck,

digging the cold steel into my fleshy, soft skin. 

I flinch as a sharp pain shoots through my body,

but I continue pushing the blade against my throat. 

Tears run down my face,

while blood runs down my neck,

staining my white t-shirt.

So much blood.

Fear flashes through my brain,

as my final moments play out before me. 

All I can focus on is the geese.

So careless, so free. 

When I'm gone,

I will be free,

just like those geese. 

Not a care in the world.

I fall to the ground, almost smoothly.

Before my life leaves my body,

I make a wish,

"Please make me a goose,

so I can fly away from everything and everyone."

My eyes close, 

and my final breath escapes my mouth. 

I'm finally free.
