Life in The Shadows
My voice may be the tiniest,
Even if I have the most to say.
My clothes may be the shiniest
But inside I might feel gray.
I may try to disappear
I might try to shrink
I may never volunteer,
Though there's a lot that I think.
Outside I might smile,
So that you think I’m okay
But inside I’m hostile
And I try to push it away.
Don’t get me wrong-
I’m used to living in the shadows.
We probably won’t get along,
I’m better off alone in my own meadow.
Maybe you don’t even know I exist,
Maybe you think I like it
But you have no idea what you’ve missed,
And I don’t like it one bit.
But still I’ll just be the quiet one
And you can ignore me
I guess nothing can be done
Just please let me be.
You might not know
As I scribble away with my pen
You may not care although,
That is my strongest weapon.
