THE GARDENER AND THE FLOWER
I remember looking up through the weeds.
Shrunk, small,
Lost in the thorns that surrounded me.
I don’t remember when,
Or how?
I remember waking up to the feeling of warmth,
The Sun.
Oh, how the Sun filled me with life!
It warmed my shivering, trembling leaves
as they stretched out to meet you.
You somehow saw me through the overgrowth,
You somehow, miraculously picked me out in the swell of green and appreciated my
Pink petals.
Trimmed away my dead buds and feelings of overcrowd.
I felt beautiful again.
Even though my petals lifted towards the sunshine you thumbed the dying pieces of me you trimmed off and
Planted them.
You uprooted the area surrounding me and encouraged my growth.
I’ve grown accustomed to your rough hands and your sweet smile.
I don’t know how I ever found a gardener but I’m glad I somehow did.
