it is a deep dark lake
that takes hold of you
it pulls you under
you thrash
fight against it
but there is no release
it pulls you farther and farther
deeper and deeper
slowly you become weary
your muscles ache
your movements become stiff and slow
and eventually it surrounds you
it swallows you whole
you sink farther and farther
deeper and deeper
with a soft thud
you hit the bottom
