Her

Is it true?

Can you see her?

Have you seen her?

She jostled out (of me)

Sudden and silent

Like the darkness that hovers over the dusk

Her supposed host blanks out

The fleeting experience of being a nonchalant flying fish

Has slipped away too

Where is she now?

I struggle to find her.

as I rummage through the crevices of my eyes, my mouth, my mind

I don’t have the courage to find her.

as I glance at the mirror and see these dazed looks of nothingness, haunting me day and night

I cannot find her.

Did she ever exist?

The author's comments:

This poem touches on the topic of emotional instability. It tries to capture the narrator's drastic change in emotions and how it leaves her numb and stunned. In this case, the narrator stops perceiving the happiness and carefreeness she previously felt and fails to retrieve them; at last, she wonders if she has ever felt these positive feelings in her life.
