Sitting Outside

When I was younger, my parents drove me around in the family car.

I would always see older people sitting outside, just as happy as they could be.

I thought to myself, 'How could people do that all day?

Wouldn't that make you bored?'

Those were silly times, where I had not a problem in the world.

Most times, I got what I wanted.

I hardly ever got in trouble, because, hey; I was just a kid.

Now, as I'm older, I understand those people.

Sitting outside, I can escape my problems

At least for a little while.

I could escape the drama at school

Or my family, who seems to have forgotten me.

Outside, I can pretend I'm invisible.

Hiding in with the trees, and the leaves, and the birds.

I can be myself out there; no one can judge.

I wish that the weekends are longer.

That nights are shorter.

That way I don't have to exist for someone else; just the animals and plants.
