Our Final Destination
The road was mapped
to a place I was meant to see.
The night was young,
twas a place I was meant to be.
Winding roads and flying cars
passing late night restaurants and bars.
My windows were down
and my night was bound to be
just for you and me.
Somewhere special, somewhere free.
Oh how I long to be alone with only you and me.
You tell me you love me
though, I cannot see
what would lie in front of me.
A deer jumps out of the woods
on the way to our destination.
I cannot help but wonder if this was meant to be.
Your tires screech and swerved
on our way to our destination.
Our final destination.
The stars crash from the sky to land upon me
I see you shaking me.
Why am I not moving?
I wish not yet to be free.
I scream and holler but you cannot see
I am in front of you though our eyes, not meet.

I had no intention to originally write this piece about a car crash but as I was writing I watched the story unfold.
