I promised you that I would stay

That I would never go away

I said to all that I’d be happy

Being no one else but me

I promised you that I would try

I promise that I’ll never cry

Though promises are hard to keep

And you didn’t keep any for me

But standing here now

Like I’m on a ships bow

I can tell you I’ll never leave

That I’ll always be upbeat

I’ll never let you see the painful cries

That I hide behind my eyes

I’ll just keep on living my life

As if I have nothing to hide

Nothing to fear, no reason to scream

If I repeat it enough I might just believe

Believe that I will be ok

Believe that there will come a day

Where I’ll always be kind and just

And all these memories will turn to dust

But for now I’ll make promises I can’t keep

As I fall into the deep

But I can promise that I’ll always try

I promise that I’ll never cry

I promise I will never break
