Grief
Death is so sudden, like a thief in the night
In an instant, one brief moment, and they’re gone
You can’t think, you can’t react, you can only grieve
“My condolences” will be on repeat, like a broken record for the first few weeks
Sympathetic faces, everywhere you look, that’s all you will greet
Everyone will say they know how you feel, “I’ve been where you are.”
But no one can feel the pain that you feel, Wanting to stretch out your hand and reach that person, knowing that not even the tips of your fingers will ever reach that far. Papa, I’ll never be able to reach where you are.
