Dandelions
From the soft earth
On warm spring days
We have a guest.
Her hair is yellow
The color of the sun.
She is so thin
Like she could snap
Too delicate to touch.
Sticky and warm and sweet
A perfect princess for the ball.
Get out
We scream at her
You pest
Go away.
We tear her up
Break her
Get out get out get out ugly.
And so she cries softly
Turns away
And runs from the ball.
