The Morning
Sitting on the porch
With a steaming mug of coffee
In one hand
And my favorite novel
In the other
I listen to the mockingbirds sing
And the crickets chanting their melodies
To the soft marshland breeze
That carries falling leaves
And tufts of velvety cotton
Over the murky waters
Where the cattails grow
And the frogs warble away
This is my favorite place to be
I got the inspiration for this poem by the lovely film ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’. I would recommend it for those who enjoy sentimental movies!
