Silence

The silence once ached
as the loneliness
seeped into my bones.
I used to wonder
if I was already
a corpse at thirteen.
So I asked the ceiling
and the silence echoed
like a ghost in my ears.
I screamed until it hurt
an endless cry
into a quiet void.
The walls never answered
but they let me
scream until nothing was left.
When I was left
alone with silence again
all I could hear was myself.
