A Turtle's Day at Work
June 5, 2022
A painted box turtle was relaxing
on a sandy colored rock,
basking in the sun, enjoying
his day at work.
He had yellow stripes
decorating his neck and tail
as if they were work shoes
with a matching tie.
He scurried away from me
and crash landed face first
off his post. He traveled
through the thick grass,
leaving a trail behind him
like a snail. He hurried back
home to his wife.
