Light shines brightly as splatters of yellow, green..and hints of blue fill the ceilings.

The smell of pancakes fills the air.

Welcomed by a gleaming smile..

It’s mama.

I’ve never been outside.

Mama says it’s nothin to worry about.

But every night at 3am I hear the tingling of keys.

But I avert my eyes because,

This little red cottage is all I know of.

However my curiosity cannot be contained.

I ask mama what’s outside again.

She says it’s beautiful with angels in the air.

I ask her why then…why can’t I go outside?

(No response)

But I looked outside my window

Black and blue withered weeds were everywhere.

The sky was covered with a grey dull atmosphere.

My mother grabbed me.

WHAT DID YOU SEE!

There were weeds in the garden mama.

But what I didn’t tell her was I saw myself.

Dead.

But as I saw a glimpse

of the outside world.

I continued to avert my eyes.
