Knifemare

The endless dark, void of bliss

Dull droning of

A place of stark abyss

But what is this?

A sense of life

In the vast nothingness.

A dreadful sight on

A mortal’s eyes,

Sure to alarm and fright

Blades of steel and handles of wood

Bent and twisted to

Form a statue that stood

Spare and tender.

Deemed a Knifemare

With fingers that render

A brave bloke

Frozen in fear.

A silver tongue to evoke

Remarks said smooth and clear.

You, the fools, have wandered

Blindly, yet stepping ever near.

However, despite their menacing

And horrifying mask,

The entity is actually welcoming.

With a effortless noise of a swish,

Visions cloud your mind.

You learn that this form was not their wish.

Doomed to occupy this hellish

Place by a lich.

They forever relish

Your companionship.

Used as nothing more than a

A piece on a board to grip.

They were kept

In this prison to kill,

Only a matter of time before they snapped.

You listened to

This somber tale and ask

If they want to escape with you.

They hurriedly agree

And they return to the world

Left so carefree.

They are free to do whatever

Their destiny chooses.

They are free to be forever

To roam the world in peace.

View everything they missed.

They are free to be no longer a headpiece.

They are free to finally live.

And it’s all thanks to you

And your ability to forgive.

They thank you for ending their pain

And you guide them back to the

Door that led you to this domain
