What Are The Odds?
Of all the lives I could have led
Of all the places I have yet to see
Somehow there is you and me.
Isn't it a miracle just to know you?
To be alive at the same time?
To know my name has graced your lips?
When you look at me there is only you
If only for a second
Time passes slowly
Call it what you will
Something led me to you
A billion years of time
Somehow you are mine?
I wish I had known you sooner
A lifetime isn't long enough
But if it's all we get
I'll be okay knowing "we"
Was once you and me.

This piece is inspired by how remarkable it is to know someone in your life, regardless of who they are (friend, family, partner, etc). I hope people take time to acknowledge how truly lucky we are to be on the planet at the same time as people we love. We could have been born 500 years apart or had missed each other by one year, it is perplexing to think of all the variables that have aligned perfectly for us to spend our lives with those we love.
