"I desire the things that will destroy me in the end."- Sylvia Plath

The sound of the waves crashing

As I see my life flashing

With sand on my feet

I wonder what lies beneath

The moon and stars

Don’t look that far

The warm summer air

Sinking in my skin and hair

As I walk on this beach

The one I can always reach

I lie down

The ocean can make you drown

That is where my thoughts will be

As you stand over by that palm tree

A gust of wind comes

Sounding like a hum

You walk towards me

Only telling me that it is a dream

And now I have to leave

I will be back I believe

Hi my name is Kayla. I wrote this poem about ocean city Maryland and the beach there. At the hotel I was staying at I would look out the window and down at the beach at night and I would imagine myself on the beach and this is what I imagined.
