Writing new vocabulary words that you can use in an everyday sentence

Writing, writing catchy phrases that’ll make you sound much more sophisticated

Writing, a special quote that’ll make a difference to our descendants

Writing to the point where you let your mind run on its own, and your opinions are hated

After all, isn't that what poetry is?

Being lost in your imagination, yet standing firmly on the Earth's surface

Using every word you’ve learned since day one, and letting go of all your emotions

But you still must watch what you say because it makes others feel nervous

We should feel safe to share how we feel, but can’t let our opinions go off in an explosion

I just want more recognition, I don’t want to be an “exception”

I’m not trying to be picky, what I write isn’t exactly what I mean

It’s pretty hard to grab the audience's attention

I’ll just wait in line, because we all just want to be seen

It’s hard to seem worthy

We get the stage to ourselves on every leap day

Sharing our personal things and worries

We all have something to say

So many authors, so many stories, then my poem's underneath this

People will only get to read what I have to say on certain conditions

After all, it’s not like anyone will actually read this

It’ll just get buried under “recent submissions”
