I used to think

That when I was

An adult

A free agent

I could sprout

Wings of white

Delicate feathers

Snowy feathers

Fluttering feathers

And fly away to my

New life

Childhood brings

Out wild dreams

And I guess

I wanted to be free

Like a bird

Soaring over oceans

And land like it’s nothing

Like it doesn’t matter

And now I’m

Just an adult

In a world of

Unhappiness

And judgement

And hate

And I wish I took

More days to

Dream

Of being a

Bird because now

It’s impossible to

Think of anything

That is outside of

The norms

I wish I had

Feathers

Delicate feathers

Snowy feathers so

I could fly away

To a new place

Where childhood was

Forever and we

Could all be birds

And shower the

World in equality

And bliss

And joy

But it’s all a

Dream

It’s all a

Wish

From someone

Who rushed through

Life to get to

Adulthood

Then realized that

It’s not what it’s said

To be

Just a repetition

Of the same day

Until you retire

Which is a

Repetition of the

Same day until you

Pass

I wish I spent more

Time dreaming of

Birds and

Feathers

Because I would’ve

Realized that

I had

Feathers

All along
