Sarcasm is Just Self-Defense

I don't really get why
people get defensive,
rude,
apprehensive
give you a look
of instant dislike
just because
you pointed out
the loophole
in their words.

It's all about
the way you think.
You may just have tried
to make a person
less stupid
than they already are,
or just humoring
the thoughts from a head
with a few screws loose,
learn from your mistakes
and all that.

Sarcasm is just self-defense
Against the victims of a zombie attack
[That's why they're missing
brain matter]
Sticks and stones may break the bones
but words are sharper and more painful.

When you're insecure,
people start pointing it out.
It's like they don't know
how much you overthink that.

They'll crush your spirit,
your new-found confidence
about your skin, body, face.
Countless photos on the internet
constant reminders
that you're beautiful
-and people will crush
this new-found confidence
that you've built from the scratch.

It's okay.

You might have acne,
you might have bad hair,
you might be too dark
you might be too pale
but you're perfect as you.
A butterfly doesn't know it's beautiful too.

Let people say
all they want
but use words to fight back.

Sarcasm is self-defense,
against all the people
who'll judge you.

So what if I don't look like a goddess?
I might seem a bit rude
But the truth is harsh,
and if you don't like me
for speaking the truth,

Just remember, sarcasm doesn't suit you.

Sarcasm is just
logic and practical thinking
used as strong armor
around the remains of a broken self.

A reminder to all those sassy sarcastic people out there that no matter what people tell you, you're awesome (you already knew that tho), and if you were in a book or movie, all the readers would be cheering for you! Stay awesome forever!
