Dragonfly
Flaps his wings in desperation,
flitting about in hopes of an escape.
Up- he goes, towards the heavens;
is it release?
No, just the screen-in porch.
The dragonfly takes one look
at the sun-set sky,
clings to the mesh,
and waits to die.

I see it all the time- dragonflies get stuck in my screen-in porch, and i walk outside, seeing them clinging for dear life (even until their last moments) to the mesh of the porch. It's chillingly poetic every time it happens.
