“Allure of Appreciation”
July 13, 2021
No longer known for the fires I extinguished,
but for the fumes I inhaled.
And it’s tough to look past this smokescreen,
‘cause even the light seems grey now.
Each step takes me farther from home
and closer to that specious Avalon.
Those countless lost spirits take me as one of their own.
Another one whose scars were mistaken for weaknesses,
another one deceived by the allure of appreciation.
