Animals inhabit the enclosures

Their eyes adjusting to the exposures

Of observing crowds

Filling up like clouds

A bear yawns as he’s surrounded

By scrawny vultures; confounded

Through darkened rooms

There are bats hovering and gliding in looms

Claws sticking upward; seeming to attack

Bumping through squares of glass; flying back

Buffalo lumber through the grass-covered ground

Their brown coats lightened as they’re crowned

By the vibrant rays of the sun

Lions stretch and lick

Their rough tongues combing smoothly and slick

Giraffes stretch their necks against the sky

Tall statures; tails whipping against flies

Tigers roaming across their enclosures

Ignoring the crowds; keeping their composure

The tour soon ends; crowds of people disbanding

The zoo now feels as if empty; stranded
